WELCOME AND COURSE OVERVIEW

You’re about to begin an exciting and rewarding journey of gaining skill and confidence in public speaking! The objective of each lesson is to go through the proven road map of the LEAPS method, and learn the five simple steps to powerful speaking. With the LEAPS Method, we’ll guide you along every step of way so that you can build your own highly successful and impactful speech or presentation, and be able to use this method over and over again for any topic. The more you use these principles, the easier it will be to use them in future presentations, and the faster you will experience the transformation of becoming a powerful speaker.

  • MODULE 1: LEARN
    Read. Research. Compile.

    In this module, you’ll determine the base of your speech, which includes defining the actual topic, why you are speaking about it, and how you will show the importance of your topic. This is the beginning of the critical research and planning stage. You'll discover how to find the most relevant facts and get immediate verifiable information without relying on surface level opinions or information that just appears to be factual. We'll also cover how to find and use diagrams, charts, pictures, models, or other objects to help back up your points and represent your data.

  • MODULE 2: ENHANCE
    Interview. Personalize. Get Testimony. Strengthen.

    In this module, we discuss how you can use expert testimonials to add strength and credibility to the topic you’re planning to speak about. This is the second and very important phase of research and planning for your speech or presentation. You'll learn how to establish clear objectives on why you are interviewing particular subject matter experts for compelling testimony and research on your speech topic. You'll also create and use a simple logical or chronological sequence of questions to ask your interview subject, and learn how to get enough of the right information from your testimonial interview to support your presentation topic, and make sure you are hitting your target.

  • MODULE 3: ARRANGE
    Write. Outline. Organize. Structure. Edit.

    In this module, we cover how to write a speech with structure and organization, in addition to looking at excellent tools that help you write, organize, and master your speech and presentation content. You'll learn how to have a clear purpose and organization to your topic by selecting the right words to communicate your ideas clearly, accurately and descriptively. We'll also go over how to use simple, specific and precise words, and eliminate technical, outdated, and obsolete jargon. Finally, we'll go into detail on writing for the ear, not the eye, by reading what you write and then refining until it sounds good to an audience instead of an English teacher.

  • MODULE 4: PRODUCE
    Design. Align. Visualize.

    In this module, you’ll learn about the best design trends to make your presentations pop and have a powerful impact on your audience. We’ll also explore the latest tools and techniques that save you time and money as well as help you create fresh, innovative, and impressive visual presentations. We'll cover how to choose the best motivational, inspirational, and humorous images that drive people to remember your content and take action afterward. You'll also learn how to make your audience excited, energized, and truly glad they came to hear you talk.

  • MODULE 5: SPEAK
    Practice. Rehearse. Measure. Finalize.

    In this module, we put all of the other modules together and get to the heart of what it takes to create and deliver an outstanding powerful speech. You’ll learn the most effective speaking techniques you can use during the delivery of your speech or presentation, and be able to use them again in future speeches. You'll also learn how to find the right people to mentor, coach, and help you along the way on your journey to powerful speaking, and what the best methods are for practicing your speech or presentation. We'll also cover methods of breathing, meditating, and relaxing before a big speech, and other healthy things you can do to eliminate anxiety and calm your nerves, as well as how to apply your powerful speaking skills to any speech topic in the future.
